About On Coming Alive

The On Coming Alive Project is a movement of people rising from the ashes and coming alive. The project features a diverse group of stories on the topics of abuse, addiction, death, depression/anxiety, divorce, domestic violence, illness, rape, and suicide. On Coming Alive was created as a platform for those who have suffered to share their stories of survival and their wisdom with the world.

The On Coming Alive project is unapologetically founded on the belief that there is hope because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. On Coming Alive also recognizes that suffering is universal. Suffering knows no age, no ethnicity, no gender, and no religious belief. We all suffer and, because of this, On Coming Alive welcomes all who are hurting to enter into this community, with the hope of leading the hurting out of the darkness.

The On Coming Alive Project is starting a global conversation on the topics of suffering and mending after tragedy and loss. It’s a growing, thriving community of others who are joining hands to spread two messages: “You are not alone.” and “There is always hope because of Christ.”

The project was borne out of suffering and launched on February 15, 2016 on Lexi Behrndt’s personal website Scribbles and Crumbs after the loss of her infant son and the loss of her marriage. The purpose of the project is bigger than any one person, any one topic, any one community. This is about authentically sharing our stories and giving hope to those who are feeling hopeless. In this, we all can find a common ground, and we all can join together, hand-in-hand. It is about wrestling, questioning, and seeking truth together. And in this, coming alive.
